Hubert Altschäffl to become new Chief Human Resources Officer of MAN Truck & Bus

Effective April 1, 2024, Hubert Altschäffl will be appointed to the Executive Board of the Munich-based truck and bus manufacturer, MAN Truck & Bus SE. There, he will assume responsibility for the human resources department as a member of the Executive Board and labor director. He will succeed Arne Puls, who will, at the same time, assume the position of General Representative and, subject to the approval of the supervisory authorities, will become the Chief Human Resources Officer of Volkswagen Financial Services AG, overseeing the Personnel and Organization department. Hubert Altschäffl currently holds the position of Human Resources Top Management & Human Resources Management in the Volkswagen Group.

“Hubert Altschäffl will further develop the successful path of MAN Truck & Bus together with the company’s Executive Board. He knows the company very well and has been able to impress in his corporate role. Hubert knows how to leverage team spirit and deploy personnel tools accordingly for MAN’s continued success. Arne Puls has laid the foundations for this success at MAN in recent years and, backed by his excellent know-how, will also inject new impetus and assume a key role at Volkswagen Financial Services AG”, said Gunnar Kilian, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, responsible for Human Resources and Truck & Bus.

“I look forward to Hubert Altschäffl’s return to MAN. He is a longtime connoisseur of the company MAN, who has also worked in our TRATON GROUP holding company. Hubert Altschäffl will help us structurally and personally accompany the transformation towards a provider of sustainable transport solutions. On behalf of the entire Board, I wish him every success in his future role and look forward to our collaboration. At the same time, my thanks go to Arne Puls, who has given crucial new impulses to personnel work at MAN in recent years. I wish him, on behalf of my fellow Board members, all the best in his future role at Volkswagen Financial Services,” explained Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus.

Hubert Altschäffl studied business administration in Regensburg and started his career in human resources at MAN in Munich after completing his degree as a Diplom-Kaufmann. After holding positions in leadership development and organization at the truck and bus manufacturer, he was responsible for Compensation & Benefits at the former holding company of the MAN Group from 2008. In 2013, he returned to MAN Truck & Bus and led the Management Principles and Organization department. Before joining TRATON SE, he played a crucial role in establishing the truck holding company. In 2019, he moved to TRATON SE, where Altschäffl was responsible for the entire management support of the Heavy Commercial Vehicle Group of the Volkswagen Group, which includes MAN Truck & Bus, SCANIA, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and now Navistar. In 2022, he moved to the Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg. Since then, he has been heading the Corporate Human Resources Management department and, since the beginning of 2023, additionally the Corporate Human Resources Top Management.

Arne Puls 

Arne Puls began his career after studying information technology in Osnabrück in development control and production planning at Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg. In 2001, he switched to human resources and took on various management roles. Arne Puls was responsible, among other things, as Head of Corporate Human Resources Management, for performance and talent management, management compensation and principles, and the Global Assignments department. In January 2022, he joined the Executive Board of MAN Truck & Bus SE and has since been responsible for the human resources department and serves as labor director.
