Isuzu Motors Limited has announced the winners of the ISUZU AI Innovation Challenge 2024, a program inviting proposals for new artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and methods. A total of 160 applications were received from over 100 individuals and organizations in 30 countries worldwide, including Japan, the United States, India, and China. As a result, a total of six entries were selected for three different awards: one 1st Prize, one 2nd Prize, and four 3rd Prizes.
In September 2024, under the theme “Innovative AI methods and the value they create for the future”, Isuzu publicly invited proposals from around the globe. Five judges, including Hirotaka Hara, former President of Fujitsu Laboratories, Matthew E. Taylor, Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Alberta, along with representatives from Isuzu, ISUZU ADVANCED ENGINEERING CENTER LTD and NineSigma Holdings, Inc. which operates this program, selected the six proposals after rigorous review and interview screening. The award-winning proposals covered a wide range of topics, including materials development, autonomous driving, human behavior and agriculture.

Among the proposals submitted, those that are deemed especially promising may be pursued further in consultation with Isuzu. Isuzu is grateful for the many applications received. The company hopes to address wide-ranging social issues with innovative AI technology ideas submitted through this program.
