Lancia’s official return to the rally world is one of the most highly anticipated events of the 2025 season, garnering increased attention from both fans and the media in Italy and around the world. With lots of surprises yet to come for, rally lovers will be provided with an enticing preview of the Turin-based brand’s new era in motorsports at the Regione Piemonte Rally taking place in Alba (CN) from April 11th to 13th.
The stars of this new adventure are the bold Lancia Ypsilon Rally4 HF, the Lancia Corse HF team, and the one-make Trofeo Lancia cap. The combination of these three elements shows just how committed the brand is to getting back to its legendary roots in the world of rallying.
The initiative’s success is backed up by the popularity of both the Ypsilon Rally4 HF, which is set to surpass 90 units sold in just four months, and a boom in registrations to the Trofeo Lancia, which has already hit its cap of 40 participants. Moreover, plenty of drivers and tuners have shown appreciation for the car right from the get-go. Its front wheel drive will allow both younger drivers to take part in one of the most technical disciplines in motorsport and allow more experienced ones to benefit from a high-performance vehicle which is capable of winning.
Luca Napolitano, Lancia CEO, stated: “We are excited to get our motorsport adventure underway in Piedmont and further strengthen our ties to the region. This is a symbolic beginning in what guarantees to be a promising, high-octane, and captivating season where tradition is set to meet innovation. With the Ypsilon Rally4 HF and the Trofeo Lancia, we want to bring our sporting DNA back to the roads and in the hearts of fans, who never stopped believing in the past, present, and future of an Italian racing powerhouse.”

The Lancia Corse HF Village lights up the Regione Piemonte Rally
The Regione Piemonte Rally will host the second act of the Italian Absolute Rally Championship and will welcome the Lancia Corse HF Village, the Lancia hub featuring a hospitality area for guests and various activities for all fans, who will even be able to catch their first look at the new race car. The event will also be the perfect opportunity to try out and road-test the qualities of the New Lancia Ypsilon, available in hybrid and electric configurations, which is best in its segment in terms of versatility, efficiency, and eco-friendliness. Moreover, guests will be able to admire the 280-hp Ypsilon HF, the high-performance road version powered by a 100% electric engine which goes from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5.8 seconds.
To be released halfway through the year, the Ypsilon HF combines superior performance with a design inspired by the most radical vehicles from Lancia’s past, including a lowered suspension and a widened wheel track. Lastly, the event will feature a collection of 25 historically significant Lancia vehicles which has been organized by the Cinzano Rally Team, the promoter of the Regione Piemonte Rally. Participants will be invited inside the hospitality area of Lancia Corse HF and, after the exciting arrival at the podium, will be able to take part in a truly special test. This one-of-a-kind experience is strictly reserved to Lancia owners.
Ypsilon Rally4 HF, a sublime piece of teamwork
The Ypsilon Rally4 HF was created through a collaboration between Lancia, the winningest brand in rally history, and the Stellantis Motorsport team, which boasts 11 victories at the Dakar Rally and 27 World Rally Championship Manufacturers’ titles. The vehicle’s DNA is predominantly Italian thanks to prestigious partnerships between Lancia and some of the most famous premium automotive and racing brands, such as Marelli, which developed the engine management system; Sparco for the safety rollcage, the seats, and the steering wheel; TM Tecnologie for the braking system; Speedline for the alloy wheels; and Supersprint for the exhaust. Furthermore, Sparco will also supply the fireproof technical clothing worn by participants in the 2025 Trofeo Lancia: a personalized line in the new Lancia Corse HF colors developed in collaboration with the Centro Stile Lancia.

The heart of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF is a 212-HP, three-cylinder 1.2 Turbo engine paired with a SADEV 5-speed gearbox with a next-generation mechanical limited-slip differential for superior power and traction management. Additionally, the McPherson suspensions with Ohlin three-way, adjustable shock absorbers can be perfectly adjusted to any driving style. Lastly, it’s worth recalling that for the fine-tuning of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF the brand looked to Miki Biasion, a true motorsports legend who, between the 80s and 90s, became inextricably linked to Lancia and went on to become the most successful Italian driver in history. Behind the wheel of the iconic Delta of the Martini Racing team, Biasion won the 1988 and 1989 World Championships, helping Lancia become the most successful brand ever with ten World Constructors’ Championships, three World Sports Prototype Championship, one 1000 Miglia, two Targa Florio, and one Carrera Panamericana.
The Trofeo Lancia, the “training ground” for tomorrow’s champions
With a stunning €360,000 prize fund, the Trofeo Lancia has established itself as one of the highest paying cups on the national stage and provides drivers with the chance to win a spot in the official Lancia Corse HF team led by Eugenio Franzetti in the next FIA ERC season (if the winner is an Under-35). Even though the teams and drivers participating in the 2025 Trofeo Lancia have yet to be announced, some numbers already attest to its success. For instance, as proof of the highly competitive nature of the series, 25 of the drivers of the 40 participants in the one-make trophy are under 35, including four of the last 5 winners of the Italian Junior Rally Championship and 3 drivers in the Top 4 of the last Italian Two-Wheel Drive Italian Championship. Moreover, two female crews and 7 foreign drivers are set to get behind the wheel of a 212-hp Ypsilon Rally4 HF.

The Trofeo Lancia will kick off on May 8th at the iconic Targa Florio Rally, officially marking Lancia’s return to racing, and will continue into the most important races on the Italian stage, including the Due Valli Rally (May 30-31) and the Rally di Roma Capitale (July 4-6) which will allow the trofeisti to compete in an FIA ERC international round. After the summer break, the Trofeo Lancia will move on to the Rally del Lazio (September 13-14) before the grand finale at the historic Rallye Sanremo (October 17-18).
