- The detection of young drivers and opportunities for promising talents have always been a priority within the motorsport programmes of the Group’s brands.
- Malthe Jakobsen, Léo Rossel, and Théo Pourchaire are just a few of the drivers currently benefiting from strong development programs.
Whether in rallying or circuit racing, many of the Stellantis Group’s brands have established pathways allowing promising young drivers to evolve and compete for world championship titles. Today, through its “factory” programmes in circuit racing as well as its activities in rallying, Stellantis Motorsport continues to detect and support young talent through its Young Driver Programme.
“The opportunities within Stellantis Motorsport are significant,” says Jean-Marc Finot, SVP of Stellantis Motorsport. “Our young talents, integrated into the Young Driver Programme, have the opportunity to develop within World Championship series while also contributing, with their driver feedback, to the development of our competition cars and our production sports cars. We are very proud of this programme and to be able to support such promising young talents.”
In circuit racing, Théo Pourchaire, Formula 2 champion in 2023, joined the programme this year. As a Peugeot Sport endurance test driver, he also supports the Stellantis Motorsport Formula E development teams, having participated in the rookie tests with Maserati in Jeddah last February. Additionally, Stellantis Motorsport supports his programme in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), just as it did for Danish driver Malthe Jakobsen, now a full-time Peugeot Sport driver in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
The Young Driver Programme also extends into rallying with Léo Rossel, currently competing in WRC2 with a C3 Rally2. Champion of the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup, he reached the French Championship and won the title. Stellantis Motorsport now allows him to compete in the World Rally Championship, alongside his brother Yohan.
Each promotion category offers young drivers a chance to join the Young Driver Programme: Opel Corsa-e Rally, whose winner competes the following year in ERC Junior; the new Trofeo Lancia, providing access to ERC; and the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup France, leading to the national championship.
