Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf back in the DTM after a one-year break
The team led by team principal Klaus Landgraf was already active in the DTM in 2023 and attracted attention last year, especially in the ADAC GT Masters. Landgraf Motorsport achieved a novelty: the team won the ADAC GT Masters title for the third time in a row. For the past two years, the series has been among others held in conjunction with the DTM.
In Lucas Auer, Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf is relying on a driver with enormous DTM expertise. The 30-year-old made his DTM debut in 2015 and has already made 155 DTM starts (Class 1 and GT3) since then. After finishing runner-up in 2022, the Tyrolean is aiming for the championship.
DTM rookie Tom Kalender will drive the team’s second Mercedes-AMG GT3. At his first DTM race start on April 26th in Oschersleben, the Hamm/Sieg native will be 17 years and 30 days old. This makes him the youngest driver in the history of the DTM. Kalender has also been a Mercedes-AMG Junior Driver since this year. The still 16-year-old originally comes from cart and formula racing. 2024 was his first year in GT. Together with Landgraf Motorsport, he immediately clinched the ADAC GT Masters title and became the youngest champion in the series in his debut season.
Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing successful in the DTM since the beginning of the GT3 era
Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing has been represented in the DTM since 2021. In 64 starts, the team has achieved five victories and 16 podiums. Last year, team principal Christian Hohenadel’s squad finished third in the DTM team standings with 316 points. The crew played a key role in Mercedes-AMG winning the manufacturers’ title.
As in 2024, Maro Engel will also compete for Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing in 2025. Last year, Engel finished together with the team third in the championship. That was the most successful DTM season of his career to date. Engel consistently scored points in 2024 and finished on the podium a total of seven times – at Oschersleben, the Lausitzring, the Norisring, twice at the Nürburgring, the Sachsenring and the Red Bull Ring.
Jules Gounon will line up alongside Engel for Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing. The 30-year-old Frenchman, who drives under the Andorra flag, has only completed two DTM races. Gounon stepped in at short notice for the 2024 DTM finale in Hockenheim. The son of former Formula 1™ driver Jean-Marc Gounon is the first driver with an Andorran license in the DTM.
The respective team partners as well as car numbers and designs will be communicated at a later date.

“The connection between Mercedes-AMG and the DTM has a long tradition. We are the most successful brand in the DTM. In addition to defending the manufacturers’ title, we are clearly also aiming for the drivers’ championship again. In doing so, we are relying on a powerful line-up. In addition to two very professional teams and three extremely experienced drivers, we also have the youngest driver in the DTM field to date. In my opinion, it`s a very good mix with great potential to continue our commendable story.”
Christoph Sagemüller, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport
„I’m really looking forward to the 2025 DTM season. Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf and I will be working together for the first time in the series, but we already know each other from other programs. It’s still a little way until the first race, but we’re already hard at work. I’m extremely excited about the new challenge.“
Lucas Auer, Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf
„It’s a privilege that Mercedes-AMG and Landgraf Motorsport have put their trust in me for a DTM season. It certainly won’t be easy against the established drivers. But with the team, I have a familiar environment in which I feel comfortable. That gives me a good feeling. I try not to put any pressure on myself and at the same time I will give it my all. I got through my first GT3 season very well with this mindset.“
Tom Kalender, Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf
„It’s great to be back in the DTM with Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing. There is hardly any other series in the world where the competition is so tough and the standard so high. In 2024, the first year of our collaboration, we were in the title fight right to the end – we can build on that and want to improve once again. The goal is clear: we definitely want to become DTM champion and bring the title back to Affalterbach.”
Maro Engel, Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing
„I’m super proud to be a DTM driver – that was always my goal. In the series, I’m competing against drivers who have been racing there for many years in some cases. So personally, I’m starting at a slight disadvantage, but my team is joining since the beginning of GT3 and is one of the most experienced. My motto is to learn quickly and achieve good results. As a child, I was a fan of my compatriot Laurent Aïello, who won the DTM in 2002. Now I want to achieve the same with Mercedes-AMG and Winward Racing.“
Jules Gounon, Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing
