In a harrowing real-world demonstration of the life-saving power of vehicle armouring, one of Armoured Mobility’s clients survived an apparent assassination attempt after their vehicle sustained more than 40 high-calibre rifle shots without a single bullet penetrating the vehicle.
The incident is a chilling reminder of the country’s growing security threats, yet at the same time a powerful testament to the build quality of Armoured Mobility’s Premium Discreet Bulletproof vehicles.
The attack, which occurred during an ambush, targeted a B6-level armoured Toyota Fortuner. Gunmen opened fire at close range, concentrating on the passenger side before continuing to fire as the driver fled.
Though the tyres were damaged during the attack, Armoured Mobility’s steel band run-flat system allowed the client to drive to safety.

This incident comes amid a surge in violent vehicle-related crime. According to Tracker’s latest statistics, 56% of all vehicle crime in South Africa are now hijackings. The numbers are alarming, and affect many South Africans as more families at risk on the road each day.
