Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced that global cumulative sales of electric vehicles have reached one million units.
Since the launch of the Nissan LEAF in December 2010 , Nissan has sold a cumulative total of approximately 650,000 units worldwide. The Nissan LEAF is currently sold in about 50 countries, mainly in Japan, the United States and Europe, and has won numerous prestigious awards in each country.
In 2022, we will launch the crossover EV “ Nissan Ariya ” and the light vehicle “ Nissan Sakura ”.
“Nissan Aria” is a model that adopts Nissan’s cutting-edge technology such as ” e-4ORCE ” and ” ProPILOT2.0 ” and the latest design. The design has been highly acclaimed, such as winning the Grand Prix of Japan’s ” Auto Color Award 2021 ” and Germany’s ” Red Dot Design Award “, as well as being selected as one of the ” 10 Best Interior & UX ” by Wards in the United States .
The “Nissan Sakura,” the first model to be launched in Japan’s mini vehicle market, was well received for its overwhelming quietness, powerful and smooth acceleration, high-quality and sophisticated design with a spacious interior, and sufficient cruising range for daily use, and received orders for 50,000 units. In addition, it was highly evaluated for raising the possibility of the spread of battery EVs in Japan, and in addition to being the first mini vehicle to win the 2022-2023 “Japan Car of the Year” main award, it won the 2023 “RJC Car of the Year” and the 2022-2023 “Car of the Year” crown at the Japan Automobile Hall of Fame .
In its long-term vision ” Nissan Ambition 2030 “, Nissan has announced that it will introduce 19 EV models by 2030. Aiming to launch an EV equipped with an all-solid-state battery developed in-house by fiscal 2028, we will expand our EV lineup to meet the wide-ranging needs of customers around the world.
