Kia Corporation today announced total global sales of 260,472 units in July 2023, a 0.8 percent increase year over year.
Excluding special purpose vehicles, sales were up 2.1 percent from a year earlier to 212,508 units outside of Korea. In the Korean market, Kia recorded 47,424 unit sales, a 7.2 percent decrease year over year.
Kia SUV models led the company’s sales momentum, with the Sportage selling 42,382 units in July. The Seltos and Sorento SUV models followed, selling 29,648 and 20,798 units respectively.
Kia has also recently marked three decades of its popular Sportage SUV with the launch of a new 30th Anniversary Special Edition in the Korean market. With over seven million units sold across five generations, the Sportage has solidified its position as Kia’s best-selling model globally since 2015, captivating drivers with its distinctive design and inspiring performance
Sales outside of Korea
Kia sales outside of Korea increased by 2.1 percent compared to the same month last year, with 212,508 units sold.
In markets outside of Korea, the Sportage SUV led the sales momentum with 35,757 units. The Sportage was followed by the Seltos SUV, which sold 24,878 units and the K3 (also known as Forte outside of Korea), which sold 18,419 units.

In July, Kia sold 47,424 units in the Korean market, a 7.2 percent decrease from the same period last year.
The Sportage also led the company’s sales in its home market, with sales of 6,625 units. The Carnival MPV and Sorento SUV followed with sales of 6,109 and 5,678 units respectively.
Kia will continue its sales momentum with the launch of the new Sorento SUV, K5 sedan, and Carnival MPV models in the second half of 2023. Kia also expects its brand proposition to be further strengthened with the new EV9, the company’s first three-row seat electric flagship SUV, soon to be rolled out across global markets.
