Continental’s Automotive group sector has appointed Karin Dohm (52) as the future CFO to continue driving forward its already started path to independence. The current chief financial officer of the Hornbach Group will strengthen the Automotive team from April 1, 2025. She is designated to take over responsibility for the Executive Board function for Accounting, Controlling, Treasury, Tax, Mergers & Acquisitions and Real Estate Management, Investor Relations and IT of the future independent Automotive business alongside the designated CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt. The Executive Board for the Automotive business is scheduled to be finally appointed after the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting of Continental AG has given the necessary approval to the spin-off on April 25, 2025.

“By appointing Karin Dohm, we have reached another crucial milestone on our path towards independence. I am very much looking forward to working together with her”, said Philipp von Hirschheydt, Continental Executive Board member and head of the Automotive group sector. He added: “As an experienced chief financial officer, Karin Dohm has earned an excellent reputation among both investors and analysts – with a view to ESG and compliance, too. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank her predecessor Claudia Holtkemper for her outstanding work over the past two years. She significantly contributed to the improvement of Automotive’s profitability and readiness for the stock exchange. We will continue to build on this positive development.”

Karin Dohm will join the management board for the Automotive group sector beginning April 1, 2025 with responsibility for Finance and Controlling. She will take over from Claudia Holtkemper (55), who has served in this position since May 2023 and will assume a different position within Continental.

Karin Dohm: “Taking such a strong technology company to the stock exchange as CFO is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – and one that I am eager to tackle head-on. I am excited to partnering with Philipp von Hirschheydt in establishing Automotive as an independent and successful technology company creating long-term investor value.” In recent years, Karin Dohm has been responsible for and further developing the CFO department at Hornbach Group, including Planning & Controlling, Accounting, Tax, Corporate Finance and Treasury, Compliance, Data Protection, Internal Auditing and Investor Relations. Prior to her time as CFO on the Board of Management of the Hornbach Group, Karin Dohm spent almost ten years in various global management roles at Deutsche Bank. From this time, she brings with her global experience in capital markets and political regulation, the development of diverse teams, and the management of finance and transformation. Prior to that, she spent 15 years in consulting and auditing as a partner at Deloitte. Karin Dohm is an auditor, tax consultant and graduate economist.

The Automotive group sector employs around 96,000 people (as of September 30, 2024) and generated sales of around €20.3 billion in the fiscal year 2023. The group sector has a high level of technological and system expertise as well as vertical integration. It has carved out a strong market position for innovative sensor solutions and displays as well as brake and comfort systems, and is offering great expertise in software, architecture platforms and assistance systems for the rapidly growing future market of software-defined and autonomous vehicles.
