  • New P300 for those who demand more
  • Powertrain: 2.4L Turbo Diesel pushing out 135 kW and 480 Nm of torque.
  • Towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes.

GWM has just launched their much anticipated P300 bakkie following shortly on the heels of the award winning GWM P500 that was introduced in spring 2024. Designed for versatility across the most demanding environments and built for heavy-duty work, long-haul towing, and extreme off-road conditions, the all-new P300 brings a whole new level of capability and performance to the segment, without compromising on the tech & refinement you have come to expect from the P-Series.

GWM has been at the forefront of China’s bakkie industry for decades. Since the launch of the GWM Deer bakkie in 1996, it has grown to dominate the country’s bakkie segment for 26 consecutive years, and is now aiming for global dominance in the segment with its latest offering, the P300.

“The P300 is built for those who demand more—more power, more capability, and more confidence on any terrain,” says Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing at GWM South Africa. “With its high-performance 2.4L Turbo Diesel engine and advanced 9-Speed Automatic Transmission, it delivers relentless strength without compromising efficiency or refinement. This is one of our most capable GWM bakkies yet.”

ALL-TERRAIN ENGINEERED

When the landscape changes, the new P300 will be able to adapt instantly with its Intelligent 4WD System, ensuring smooth navigation through extreme conditions. Equipped with Electronic Differential Locks, Off-Road Expert Mode, a Front Winch with the LTD model also featuring Crawl Control, it’s built to conquer the toughest terrain and tackle unpredictable environments with absolute confidence.

The LT model also features Torque on Demand (TOD), which detects wheel slippage based on speed differences between the wheels, and automatically adjusts torque distribution. This intelligent system enhances grip and stability, allowing the new P300 to maintain control on loose surfaces, steep inclines and challenging off-road tracks.

When it comes to the suspension, the new P300 is equipped with Double Wishbone at the front and Leaf Spring Rigid Axle at the rear, which will give you a balanced, controlled ride for confident handling across any terrain.

FORM MEETS FUNCTION

This premium bakkie’s impressive performance is matched by its bold looks. A distinctive new grille, redesigned bumpers and sleek LED Headlights give it a commanding presence, while the sculpted wheel-arch extensions and striking 18-inch alloys add to its powerful stance.

Fixed or Off-Road Sidesteps and a handy Tailgate Step provide easier access, while the industry first sunroof adds a refined touch. Available in a standout colour range—including Mars Red, Swarovski Blue, White, Pittsburgh Silver, Gray and Black—the new P300 lets you own your space, wherever the road leads.

BRING ON THE POWER

The all-new P300 isn’t just strong—it’s a towing champion. With the maximum permissible towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes – ideal for towing caravans, boats, trailers or heavy equipment, this bakkie will not let you down. Combined with an exceptional payload capacity, it’s built to take on the toughest tasks without flinching.

Its 2.4L Turbo Diesel heart churns out 135 kW of power and 480 Nm of torque, ensuring effortless acceleration and unwavering strength under load. Matched to an intelligent 9-Speed Automatic Shifter, it provides smooth operation and optimal fuel efficiency, proving that power and refinement can go hand in hand.

GWM has gone to great lengths to make sure this new engine has what it takes, with rigorous testing across extreme environments and 76 varied road conditions globally – covering a total of 6 million kilometres. It has also endured 650 hours of alternating load trials, 500 hours of maximum speed and load operation, and 300 hours of intense thermal shock assessments.

When there’s hard work to be done, there’s no room for compromise in your choice of bakkie, and the new P300 will deliver relentless performance day in and day out.

LOW CONSUMPTION, LOW NOISE

The P300’s Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) optimises airflow for improved efficiency and power delivery. Airflow in the turbine is adjusted, boosting velocity at low speeds and increasing volume at high speeds. This technology enhances performance, while reducing fuel consumption, ensuring a stronger, more efficient drive across any terrain.

Advanced NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) optimisation refines the P300’s engine performance, reducing cabin noise and improving driving comfort. Mufflers in the intake piping minimise airflow noise, while soundproof covers block engine sounds. Meanwhile enhanced fuel injection strategies further reduce noise and improve efficiency.

TECHNOLOGY THAT WORKS AS HARD AS YOU DO

Inside, the new P300 rewrites the rulebook for workhorse bakkies. The cabin blends premium finishes with cutting-edge technology, offering a space that’s as intelligent as it is refined.

At the core of the cockpit is a 12.3-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System, seamlessly integrating Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto for effortless connectivity. A 7-inch Digital Instrument Cluster keeps key information front and centre, while Wireless Charging, Push-Button Start and Keyless Entry ensure modern convenience without the clutter.

Leather Seats with a Heated and Ventilated front row and a Leather Steering Wheel with heating functionality, take comfort to a new level. While Ambient Lighting brings an unexpected touch of sophistication to the rough and ready world of bakkies.

Because driving hard doesn’t have to mean sacrificing comfort, this bakkie is designed to keep you focused, refreshed and in control—no matter how hard the yards.

SAFETY THAT NEVER STANDS DOWN

Confidence comes standard in the all-new P300, thanks to a full suite of advanced safety technology designed to keep you in control.

  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Lane Keeping Assist & Lane Departure Warning
  • Driver Fatigue Monitoring
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • 360° Panoramic Camera System
  • Blind Spot Monitoring & Lane Change Assist

With Comprehensive Airbag Protection, Intelligent Cruise Assistance and Collision Avoidance Systems, this bakkie is designed to keep you moving forward—securely and confidently. Whether you’re navigating city streets or tackling untamed landscapes, you can rest assured that the P300’s advanced safety systems have got your back.

NEW AND IMPROVED COVERAGE

Every all-new P300 comes standard with GWM’s recently upgraded comprehensive and transferable vehicle warranty and service coverage, so you can focus on the road ahead with peace of mind:

  • 7 Years / 200 000 km Warranty
  • 7 Years of Unlimited Roadside Assistance
  • 7 Years / 75 000 km Service Plan
  • 12 Months / 15 000 km Service Intervals

“The all-new P300 is a statement of strength, capability and modern refinement,” says Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing at GWM South Africa. “It’s for those who don’t just take on challenges—they welcome them head-on. Whether on the worksite, the open road, or the toughest terrain, the new P300 is ready. Bring it on.”
