- Jonathan Mogotsi will drive the powerful SupaPolo
- Volkswagen Motorsport Rookies to team up with motoring media
Volkswagen Motorsport gears up to compete at the thrilling Zwartkops Top of the Hill Challenge in Pretoria on Saturday 5 October.
“The Zwartkops Top of the Hill Challenge is a 2000 metre hill climb starting at turn 4 and running in the reverse direction of the track, all the way up to Turn 5 and the finish,” Mike Rowe, Volkswagen Head of Motorsport explains. “Volkswagen will be competing with nine race cars which will be led by Jonathan Mogotsi’s Hillclimb SupaPolo including the four Volkswagen Rookies teamed up with four motoring journalists for the weekend.”
“During testing I found the track to be fast and less reliant on speed, I am looking forward to challenging some of the big, powerful cars for the top ten finish,” Jonathan Mogotsi, Volkswagen Motorsport Driver explains.
“Volkswagen Motorsport would like to thank the Zwartkops organisers for including a special class for our Rookie Cup cars,” Mike Rowe added. “Our four Rookies will team up with four motoring journalists, but each in their own Volkswagen Motorsport Polo Vivo GT, so there will be eight cars running. The four Rookies will then draw a number out of a hat after practice, and team up with that journalist for the competition.”
The media contingent that will be competing is Maroela Media’s Brendon Staniforth, Jacob Moshokoa from cars.co.za, Isolezwe’s Fanele Bhengu and Rebaneilwe Semakane of Reba S on Cars. The Zwartkops Top of the Hill starts on Friday and the all-important final will be on Saturday.
