Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti claimed victory in the third round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at the Circuit de Catalunya. The French driver from the Schumacher CLRT team crossed the finish line first in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup after 15 laps, ahead of Dutchman Robert de Haan and fellow Frenchman Marvin Klein.
Pole-setter Flynt Schuring had to settle for fifth but took top rookie honours. Porsche Junior Theo Oeverhaus remains at the top of the overall standings after finishing ninth. Thanks to his first win of the season, Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti has rejoined the battle for the overall crown in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
The 23-year-old Frenchman from the Schumacher CLRT team dominated the race at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, overtaking teammate Flynt Schuring shortly after the start. ‟At the beginning, I was able to benefit from the duels behind me and gained some ground,” explained Ghiretti. “This allowed me to manage my tyres and find a good rhythm. Towards the end of the race, I could steadily pull clear and bring home the win.”

Ghiretti made a significant leap in the overall standings, moving up to second place – and now sits just 9.5 points behind fellow Porsche Junior, Theo Oeverhaus. Starting from 13th on the grid, Oeverhaus minimised the damage by finishing ninth. ‟I made the best of my poor starting position,” stated the 20-year-old German. ‟I faced a lot of tough duels. The problem is, you get understeer when you follow another car, and that’s especially punishing on the front tyres. So I was practically stuck behind Alex Tauscher the entire distance. Now we want to make sure we get more out of the upcoming races.”

Two podium spots claimed by BWT Lechner Racing
The other podium spots were claimed by BWT Lechner Racing drivers Robert de Haan and Marvin Klein. ‟That was a strong result for the team,” said Monaco winner de Haan. ‟I’m delighted, even though I lost some pace in the final stages. We need to analyze that. Still, this result was significant for the championship, especially after the retirement in the first race.” Teammate Klein was pleased to earn his first points of the season: ‟I got off the line well and immediately gained two positions. After that, I tried to attack my teammate, but unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough. Still, after retiring in the first two races, this result is particularly important. Now we’ll take it race by race and see where we end up.”

Behind Huub van Eijndhoven, who finished fourth and holds the same position in the championship, Flynt Schuring was the best-placed rookie in fifth. ‟When you start from pole, you naturally expect more,” admitted the Dutchman, who, like winner Ghiretti, drives for Schumacher CLRT. ‟I didn’t get the best start and was a bit too optimistic braking into the first corner. But I’m taking the positives from this weekend. I scored a lot of points and was fast all weekend. We can build on that.” Schuring currently sits sixth in the overall Supercup standings.
Positive review of the weekend
Oliver Schwab, Project Manager of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, offered a positive review of the Barcelona weekend: ‟Today’s race had everything that defines the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – a tight, competitive field and tough but fair battles for position with fascinating race cars. Big compliments to our Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti for an extremely composed performance. The gap at the top of the standings has tightened, and that promises plenty of excitement in the races to come. And, of course, we’re pleased all the cars made it through safely.”

Round four of the 2025 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will be contested on 29 June as part of the Austrian Grand Prix support programme at the Red Bull Ring near Spielberg.
