  • Larry ten Voorde bids farewell to Porsche’s one-make cups with sixth place in the season finale at the Hockenheimring
  • For the first time since the Carrera Cup Deutschland’s inception, an Israeli driver stands at the top of the podium
  • Flynt Schuring wins Rookie title, Sören Spreng is ProAm champion and Proton Huber Competition secures first place in the team standings

The championship titles of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland have been decided in a turbulent season finale at the Hockenheimring, with Larry ten Voorde crowned champion for the fourth time. The overall trophy in the Rookie classification went to Flynt Schuring, another Dutchman. German driver Sören Spreng prevailed in the ProAm classification. The Bavarian team Proton Huber Competition secured the Team title.

The last of 16 races in the 2024 season was thrilling until the final lap. British Allied-Racing driver Harry King led the field for almost the entire race distance – until rival Robert de Haan launched an overtaking move. The two cars made contact in the process. King dropped back to ninth place, while his Dutch rival from Team75 Bernhard ultimately finished eighteenth.

Ariel Levi snatched the lead for the last few metres from third place. He had started the race from pole position only to be overtaken by King and De Haan after just a few corners. His first Carrera Cup victory thus came as quite a surprise, even for the 24-year-old racing driver from Tel Aviv. “What a crazy race! The first lap was disappointing for me, but that all disappeared with that last lap,” he summarised.

Ariel Levi was joined on the podium by Team Bonk Motorsport’s Theo Oeverhaus from Germany in second place and Dutch driver Huub van Eijndhoven from Uniserver by Team GP Elite in third. The trophies were presented by Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport, and Porsche Brand Ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, champion of the Carrera Cup Deutschland in the 2000 season.

The unsuccessful manoeuvre a few corners before the chequered flag not only cost Robert de Haan second place overall, but also the Rookie title. Consequently, fourth place and victory in the Carrera Cup rookie group went to Flynt Schuring. With this success, the 18-year-old Dutchman overtook the previous Rookie championship leader De Haan. “Honestly, I had already written off the title,” admitted Schuring, who races for Team Proton Huber Competition. “To be at the top after all is amazing.”

Behind Schuring, German driver Alexander Tauscher finished fifth and Larry ten Voorde sixth, two other drivers from the Bavarian team. For ten Voorde, this result meant successfully defending his title and at the same time bidding farewell to the Porsche one-make cup world. The 28-year-old Dutchman – four-time champion in the German Carrera Cup, three-time overall winner of the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and 2023 title winner in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia – intends to shift his focus to his own Driver Academy in future. “I had a fantastic time in the Carrera Cup Deutschland and achieved many great successes,” summarised the 33-time race winner.

While Michael Essmann from the CarTech Motorsport team won the ProAm classification at the season finale, the title in this class went to Sören Spreng, who finished second in Hockenheim. “I didn’t expect it to be so close again at the end of the season,” admitted the now three-time ProAm champion from Germany, who secured a total of nine class victories for Team GP Elite over the 2024 season.

The newly formed Proton Huber Competition team clinched overall victory in the team standings after its debut season with a three-way success. “Our plan was to make a bid for the Drivers’, Rookie and Team titles. The fact that we came away as champions in all three classifications against such strong competition is overwhelming,” said a delighted team principal Christoph Huber.

“This race was thrilling down to the final metre and a worthy conclusion to the 2024 Carrera Cup season. I’d like to congratulate the champions, especially Larry ten Voorde on his fourth title. I’d also like to thank all the teams who made the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland a success again this year. I’m already looking forward to 2025,” commented Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport.
