- This is the first edition of the PRISA Motor Awards, which acknowledge excellence and innovation in the automotive industry
SEAT and CUPRA CEO Wayne Griffiths has been awarded CEO of the Year at the first edition of the PRISA Motor awards. The jury highlighted Griffiths’ leadership at SEAT, which he has maintained among the leading brands in the market, as well as his contribution to building CUPRA as one of the fastest-growing car brands in Europe.
The category of CEO of the Year is the only individual award given at the ceremony and distinguishes contributions to the development of the automotive industry.
The PRISA Motor awards were held yesterday at the Hipódromo de La Zarzuela in Madrid with the attendance of a wide representation of industry professionals and government representatives, including the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Héctor Gómez.
“With SEAT and CUPRA, we have the best of both worlds to carry out the transformation that the sector demands towards a fully electric future. The SEAT brand is stronger than ever and with CUPRA we have the ambition to be one of Spain’s truly global brands. It’s people who make the brand, so a big shoutout to the Tribe for managing to go further than any of us could ever have imagined”, said SEAT and CUPRA CEO Wayne Griffiths.
Created by Grupo PRISA, one of the most important media groups in Spain, these awards acknowledge excellence and innovation in the automotive industry. At a time of significant change, with the sector facing the challenge of the transition to electric mobility, the PRISA Motor awards have been launched to recognise the central role that the industry plays in the economy and the future of Spain. The jury was made up of six automotive journalists, who select candidates in eight categories: Car of the Year, Electrified Car, Connectivity and Technology, Urban Car, Design, SUV, readers’ Car of the Year and CEO of the Year.
