- Production of the new Aygo X Hybrid kicks off at Toyota’s Kolin facility in the Czech Republic
- Delivering class-leading CO₂ performance as the only full hybrid in the segment, the Aygo X Hybrid expands Toyota’s multi-pathway electrified options across all core segments
- Use of new materials, streamlined production processes and logistics further reduce the environmental impact at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic
Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has started production of the all-new Toyota Aygo X Hybrid at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic (TMMCZ). Toyota’s most accessible model in Europe, the Aygo X Hybrid debuts as the first full hybrid in the A-segment, delivering the lowest CO2 emissions of any non-plug-in car on the market – making hybrid technology more accessible than ever. With this launch, Toyota now offers electrified options across all core vehicle segments in Europe.
Production of the Aygo began 20 years ago, in February 2005. The Aygo X, introduced in 2021, marked a shift to a crossover-inspired design, now with over 365,000 units produced.
The new Aygo X Hybrid is produced at TMMCZ in Kolin, Czech Republic, where new materials, streamlined processes and logistics further reduce the plant’s environmental impact. TMMCZ, with a workforce of around 3,200 and 65% of parts sourced locally, has produced over 2.3 million Toyota vehicles since its foundation in 2022 – including Aygo, Aygo X and Yaris. The plant is also preparing for future battery electric vehicle (BEV) production, reinforcing Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy toward carbon neutrality.

We are excited to begin production of the Aygo X Hybrid in addition to preparing for future battery electric vehicle production. This milestone marks another step forward in our multi-pathway journey towards carbon neutrality. The introduction of the GR SPORT grade also adds a unique chapter to our Aygo story.
Robert Kiml, President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech
The Aygo X introduces Toyota’s renowned hybrid technology to our most compact and accessible model, offering improved efficiency, dynamic performance, and advanced safety features combined with our rigorous quality standards. This milestone is a testament to our commitment to making sustainable mobility available to all, without ever compromising on quality.
Peter Rade, Vice President Quality, Toyota Motor Europe
Toyota is committed to achieving carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040, and in all European manufacturing facilities by 2030. TMMCZ continues to advance this goal through energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and process innovation.
