OMODA and JAECOO, the marques within the Brand O&J division, will expand their lineup next month with the introduction of an electrified model. The flagship C9 range will welcome the C9 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid derivative that blends efficiency, performance, luxury, and low emissions in one sophisticated package.

While closely resembling its ICE-powered sibling, the C9 PHEV stands out with an electrified powertrain that delivers a combined output of 440 kW and 915 N.m of torque. This impressive performance is achieved through a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with four electric motors, resulting in acceleration that rivals some of the most powerful performance SUVs and sedans.
However, the C9 PHEV’s dual nature as a plug-in hybrid also ensures impressive efficiency, achieving just 1.4 L/100 km on the combined cycle. Its 34.5 kWh battery pack offers an all-electric range of up to 150 km, while the combined range is rated at 1,100 km – ideal for longer journeys. When connected to a DC fast charger, the battery can be recharged from 30% to 80% in as little as 25 minutes.
Local specifications for the C9 PHEV are yet to be confirmed, but the luxury SUV will offer a comprehensive suite of features designed to enhance comfort and safety. The C9 PHEV, available exclusively in the high-spec Explore variant, is expected to feature 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and heated seating for front and rear passengers.

“The arrival of the C9 PHEV in South Africa marks an exciting addition to our lineup, offering a compelling blend of performance, efficiency, and luxury,” commented Shannon Gahagan, Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “The C9 PHEV is a testament to our commitment to providing discerning drivers with more choice, combining the performance of a powerful SUV with the efficiency of electrification, all in a luxurious package.”
Several new models from the Brand O&J division, including the new OMODA C7, JAECOO J7 SHS, and JAECOO J5, will join the OMODA C9 PHEV in 2025.
