FIAT in 2023 has increased its global sales volume of 12%, registering a total of 1.35 million units sold worldwide confirming being the first brand of Stellantis in terms of sales volume. Its global leadership is highlighted by the significant results in Europe, South America, and Middle East and Africa. The brand in fact is leading in its four “domestic markets” with a share of 21.8% in Brazil, 12.8% in Italy, 15.7% in Turkey and 78.6% in Algeria with different nameplates at the top, respectively: Fiat Strada in Brazil, Panda in Italy, Tipo in Turkey and Algeria.

Olivier Francois, FIAT CEO and Global CMO of Stellantis, stated: “Over the last year, we have grown globally, consolidating our position as a global player and, for the third year in a row, FIAT has proven to be the number one Stellantis Brand in volume, globally scoring +12% versus last year thus contributing to the Group’s excellent results.” And continues “In 2023 in Europe we launched two new important products: the new Fiat 600 – which marks the return of FIAT in the B segment – and the new Topolino.

Together they will make even more robust our leadership in the offer for a more and more urban sustainable mobility. In South America FIAT confirmed its leadership with 14,5% market share, together with its leadership in Brazil. In Middle East and Africa, we also confirmed our key role in Turkey and, thanks to the new Plant in Algeria, we entered a new important market, taking its leadership. Therefore, we are set for a great 2024. And soon the season two of FIAT will begin, giving life to the other side of our love brand, the one that stands for inclusive, ingenious, Italian and furthermore global.”

Europe
The spearhead of FIAT’s electrification strategy, last year the 500e was Europe’s number one in the A+B BEV segment with a market share of 14.7%, up 0.3 pt. compared to 2022. It also ranked first in Italy, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and Austria; second in France.

In the city-car market, FIAT registered more than 230,000 Fiat 500 (excluding its BEV version) and Panda achieving a share of 44.4%, confirming FIAT’s European supremacy. Among the Commercial Vehicles, FIAT Professional Ducato was number one of Stellantis Group, ranking 7th in the LCV market overall Europe.

In Italy, FIAT is market leader in passenger cars with 175,000 units sold, amounting to 11.1% of market share on the full year.

  • The Fiat Panda Hybrid, made in Pomigliano, was the Italian best seller, for the 12th year in a row. Together with the Fiat 500 Hybrid the Brand reached 66,5% of share in the city car segment.
  • The Fiat 500e, made in Torino Mirafiori, was the best-selling electric city car in Italy.
  • Fiat 500X, produced in Melfi, has grown of 25% compared to 2022.

FIAT Professional was market leader in commercial vehicles, with 51,000 registrations amounting to a market share of 26.1% in 2023. Specifically, the Fiat Ducato, Doblò and Fiorino ranked first in their respective segment, while the Scudo was second with a growth of 2,9% compared to the previous year. In addition to that, the Fiat Professional Ducato, made in Atessa (Italy), was the best seller in its home country with over 21,900 registrations and a market share of 29.4% (+ 10% compared to 2022).

Rest of Europe. In 2023 FIAT grew in France with almost 60,000 units registered (up +7.2% on 2022), among which 33,000 were Fiat and Abarth 500, of which 24,000 in their electric versions.
In Germany, 500e is the best seller in the BEV A+B segment and FIAT Professional registered a 40% growth in volume and +1,3 pt. market share.

The 500e also dominated in Spain, gaining the title of best-selling electric urban vehicle in the A+B segment, while the Fiat 500 was the best-selling urban vehicle in A segment for the seventh year in a row. Lastly, in Spain, FIAT Professional registered a sales growth of 28%.

South America
In 2023, FIAT grew in South America where the Brand was leader with a market share of 14,5% and more than 542,000 registered units (45,300 cars more than in 2022), more than 94,600 cars ahead of second place.

In Brazil FIAT secured its leadership in the category of Hatches (more than 140,200 units and 22.6% segment share), pickups (172,000 cars and 42.6% share) and vans (26,250 units and 44.5% share). In the latter, growth was 20% compared to the previous year. It is worth saying that in the segment of vans and light commercial vehicles, FIAT has been number one in the general category for over 15 years. And, for the third year in a row, Fiat Strada was the top seller with 120,600 units and 5.5% market share. In the SUV segment, the Fiat Pulse and Fastback had 86,200 units sold over the year and an important growth of 43%.

In Argentina, the Fiat Cronos has been leading the market since 2021, holding the first position in B-Sedan with 71.3% share. It’s also the second most manufactured model in the history of FIAT in Argentina, with more than 350,000 units produced, while Strada keeps the first position in B-Pickups with 79.4% of share.

Middle East & Africa Region
The performance in the MEA Region is also quite remarkable, especially in the Turkish market where FIAT is the first automotive brand to maintain a continuous five-year leadership streak, accounting for 15.7% of market share, also thanks to the Fiat Egea which is the best-selling vehicle in Turkey for the 8th year in a row. The Fiat Fiorino contributes to excellent results, being the best seller in the LCV segment.

In addition, FIAT has set the path for its future further enlargement in MEA, first reentering in Algeria in March 2023 introducing six models to meet the diverse mobility needs of Algerian individual and professional customers. Here, FIAT is market leader with a market share of 78.6% and more than 50,000 vehicles sold last year. Customers chose Fiat 500 Hybrid, Tipo and 500X as their favorites in the passenger vehicle segment, while Doblo, Scudo and Ducato are the most sold utility vehicles. End of 2023 also saw the introduction of an exciting new model, the Fiat Titano.
