Alexander Schmitt will become the new Chief Procurement Officer and member of the Executive Board of PowerCo SE from November 18, 2025. This decision was approved today by the Supervisory Board of PowerCo SE. Schmitt has worked for mining company Anglo-American, based in London, where he was responsible for customer business as Chief Marketing Officer.
As Chief Procurement Officer, he will be responsible for the entire procurement of raw materials, components and equipment as well as supplier management and value engineering. He succeeds Jörg Teichmann, who is stepping down by mutual agreement and will take on a new role in the Volkswagen Group.

Alexander Schmitt joined Anglo-American in 2010 and was in charge of the company’s customer business as Executive Head of Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer for eleven years since 2014. Prior to that, he worked for the Boston Consulting Group, where he wasresponsible for major projects in the mining and raw materials sector, among other things. Schmitt was born in 1972 and holds a Master degree in Business Administration and Engineering from TU Darmstadt and a PhD from Otto Beisheim School of Management.
Jörg Teichmann has been building up the procurement department of PowerCo SE since 2022. Previously, he held various leadership positions at Volkswagen Group, BMW Group and ZF Friedrichshafen AG, including Chief Procurement Officer of Volkswagen Group Components.Teichmann was born in 1971 and holds a University degree in Business Administration.“
