The fourth edition of The Cape 1000, South Africa’s most breathtaking and thrilling drive, is set to return from 16 to 21 March 2025. Every year, the routes are tweaked allowing drivers to see different parts of the picturesque Western Cape. This year it kicks off at the V&A Waterfront, with pit stops in Hermanus and Franschhoek, before heading back to the vibrant city of Cape Town. It is again hosted in partnership with Private Clients by Old Mutual Wealth and will be joined by a new partner the Official Ferrari Dealer Scuderia South Africa. Scuderia South Africa will be entering four cars ranging from their latest modern sports cars to fine classics.
The event has fast become known as South Africa’s most beautiful drive. Entries are now officially open,” says Event Director, Vanessa Crichton. The exclusive entry list has been capped at 65 cars.
This regularity car rally, first launched in 2022, is inspired by legendary tribute races from around the world, with participants competing in four different categories, namely Pre-1976 (Classic); 1977-1996 (Modern Classic); 1997-current (Sports) and Restomod/Recreation. The inclusion of four different categories allows for participation across the years which makes this event so unique.
“This fabulous grand touring regularity rally is back for the fourth time and we are excited to be bringing you this exclusive rally that will once again be hosted by the incredible scenery of the Western Cape! We look forward to welcoming the participants back both locally and from all over the world as the event has truly become international”, says Vanessa Crichton
The four-day rally will kick-off at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and make its way through Hermanus, Franschhoek and Ceres before returning to the Waterfront. While most of the route is devoted to grand touring, the event organisers will focus more intently on the regularity rallying or competitive driving aspect of next year’s event.

The beneficiaries of the event include the Motorsport Legends Benevolent Fund, the fund is operated by a group of like-minded motorsport enthusiasts who several years ago recognised the fact that there were tragic tales of people involved in the sport, in particular those of advancing age, who had fallen on hard times and were in need of a degree of emergency financial relief. The event also supports the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) which is considered the leading agency representing persons with spinal cord injury and physical disability in South Africa. QASA is a NPO of quadriplegics and paraplegics. QASA strives to develop products, programmes and services in order to develop capacity among its members and to offer opportunities for societal integration.
