Maverick Motorsport in conjunction with its South African Partner, Rhyno’s Torque Show is thrilled to reveal the upcoming Botswana Racewars, a premier gathering of racing professionals (from Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Lesotho and Namibia), motorsport lovers, food vendors and Lobatse community. Sponsored by Skygate Motors and Custom Auto, this full day drag race event will showcase the fastest drivers with their spectacular cars, bringing entertainment to the community of Lobatse, facilitating networking opportunities, and offering a platform for different vendors to serve people and make money.
A drag race is an event where specially built or modified cars race over a short distance, usually 400 to 500 meters, as a test of acceleration, and it will take place on the 9th of August 2025 at Lobatse Ponds (an area in Thema 2 after passing new Lobatse stadium) starting from 10am until 7pm. Dignitaries expected to be in attendance include the Member of Parliment, Kamal Jacobs, Lobatse Town Mayor as well as the Lobatse Town Clerk.
The event will feature different races, modified and classic car exhibitions, motorbike showcases, food stalls by different Lobatse food vendors, automotive parts showcase as well as a slew of entertainment. This annual event usually brings entertainment as well as business traffic to the town of Lobatse as people from all over Botswana and Southern Africa flood Lobatse in attendance, meaning that supermarkets, filling stations and other types of businesses have increased business traffic on said day.
