  • GR Supra A90 Final Edition brings the ultimate level of performance and driving excitement to the latest generation of Supra

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR)’s latest projects enhance existing icons and nurture a passion for motorsports while returning to the roots of its commitment to make ever-better cars through motorsports.

Since its inception back in 2007, TGR implements a philosophy of challenging vehicles to extremes in motorsports environments, where technology is tested to breaking point and team members cultivate a mindset of teamwork and problem solving.

From its origins at the Nürburgring, TGR has taken this philosophy to a global stage, winning World Championships in rally, endurance races and rally-raids, and delivering another hat-trick of FIA manufacturers’ titles last year.

For 2025, TGR introduces even more spectacular challenges via this uncompromising approach, and its vision for taking technology and people further via new projects which push the limits for better.

When Akio Toyoda – aka Master Driver Morizo – and his driving mentor, Master Driver Hiromu Naruse, created GAZOO Racing in 2007, they selected the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race as the best proving ground for their philosophy that “roads build people, and people build cars”.

After a six-year hiatus, TGR will return to the Nürburgring in 2025 and unite for the first time with ROOKIE Racing, the private team established to make ever-better cars and develop human resources through the skills and dedication of different drivers. The two organisations will compete as TOYOTA GAZOO ROOKIE Racing (TGRR) in the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS) and the Nürburgring 24 Hours, as well as the Super Taikyu series in Japan.

TGRR will compete using a GR Yaris fitted with the newly developed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT). That system, which automatically achieves ultra-fast downshifts to allow a driver to focus more strongly on steering, braking and acceleration, will be refined further through the rigours of competition.

Meanwhile, the mid-engined GR Yaris M Concept features an under-development 2.0-litre, inline 4-cylinder, turbocharged powerplant. This new engine pushes the limits of performance and efficiency, with very compact dimensions helping to generate a low centre of gravity. By pursuing a mid-ship lay-out – which features an engine installed in the middle of the vehicle – the GR Yaris M Concept can reap benefits in terms of weight distribution and centre of gravity, which allow sharper cornering performance. Through intensive testing in the 2025 Super Taikyu series, TGRR aims to implement “driver-first” car-making, in which vehicles are repeatedly driven to failure and then repaired in the extreme conditions of racing, thoroughly incorporating the feedback of Morizo, professional drivers, and gentleman drivers.

Another concept born on the racetrack further emphasises TGR’s commitment to ever-better cars. The GR Yaris Aero Package is inspired by a passion for cars, motorsports and driving. A “driver-first” approach for the GR Yaris results in all learning from the test track or competition being directly implemented in vehicle development steps. The result is a concept featuring new high-performance aerodynamic updates, which also exert an eye-catching presence in terms of styling.

A rear wing with manually adjustable angle allows the driver to modify downforce levels depending on the circumstances. A grippier feeling for the driver is achieved by striking new front fender ducts, which are located behind the front wheels and adapt the air flow. Aerodynamic performance is further optimised by additional vents on both lower sides of the rear bumper which create air flow from the rear wheel housing. Meanwhile, a motorsports-style vent on the bonnet offers improved cooling, and a vertical handbrake is also included.

While TGR continues to explore technologies and redefine performance with the GR Yaris in motorsports, the current generation GR Supra reaches its ultimate expression with the A90 Final Edition. This special edition, which is available to order now, offers drivers an exhilarating blend of power, agility, and precision, all enhanced by a variety of motorsports-inspired modifications for even greater excitement.

Powertrain updates have increased output from 340 DIN hp (250 kW) to 441 DIN hp (324 kW) and torque from 500 Nm to 571 Nm. That achieves faster acceleration and response, while an additional 20km/h takes maximum speed to 270km/h. Cornering performance can be pushed to the limit from the new carbon fibre driver’s seat thanks to improvements such as damping-force-adjustable KW suspension, more direct steering, new 19-inch Brembo drilled brakes and wider, high-grip tyres.

Through such car development activities, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing aims to contribute towards potential solutions for carbon-neutral mobility, as well as to a sustainable and exciting future for motorsports. TGR is advancing alternative powertrains and fuels through competition, supporting Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy, which enables customers to reduce emissions wherever they live.

All TGR’s World Championship programmes compete using sustainable fuels, with 100% renewable biofuels in use by the GR YARIS Rally1 in World Rally and the GR010 HYBRID in World Endurance. Even on the gruelling Dakar Rally, TGR introduced a fuel with 70% renewable components via its partnership with Repsol.

Building on the innovations introduced by Rookie Racing with the GR Corolla H2 race car and its hydrogen engine, TGR has also showcased a potential hydrogen future in rally and racing by creating the GR Yaris H2 and GR H2 Racing Concept prototypes.

In 2025, TGR will continue its commitment to developing people and technologies in motorsports, further expressing its philosophy of making ever-better cars via exciting challenges and a driver-first approach.
