Various Audi customer teams have clinched further trophies in national and international endurance racing. The GT3 version of the Audi R8 LMS was the race car of choice for the successful club racing drivers, as was the Audi RS 3 LMS touring car.
Audi R8 LMS GT3
Class victories and titles at the Nürburgring: Two Audi Sport customer racing teams had reason to celebrate at the finale of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS). Team équipe vitesse was the best Audi team at the finish in the sixth race. Michael Heimrich/Arno Klasen/Sascha Steinhardt won the SP9 Pro-Am classification in the Audi R8 LMS. In the final classification of the racing series, two titles also went to Andreas Herbst’s team.
The number 50 Audi R8 LMS secured the Goodyear Wingfoot Award for NLS customers of the tire brand ahead of 14 other competitors. In the annual class category, the SP9-Am classification also went to Michael Heimrich/Arno Klasen ahead of Alexey Veremenko/“Selv”, who drove an Audi R8 LMS from Juta Racing. Up2Race was another team with an Audi R8 LMS at the finale in the Eifel. The driver trio of Michel Albers/Philippe Charlaix/Pierre Lemmerz won the SP9 amateur classification after four hours of racing in this GT3 sports car’s first outing on the Nordschleife.
Audi RS 3 LMS (TCR)
Endurance title success: The Audi RS 3 LMS is the TCR touring car to beat on the Nordschleife. After six rounds of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, Håkon Schjærin is the winner of the TCR category. The Norwegian won his class in the first, third and fifth NLS races this year with the Møller Bil Motorsport team. On board in each case: compatriot Kenneth Østvold. Atle Gulbrandsen was also involved twice as the third teammate, Anders Lindstad once. This means that the Audi RS 3 LMS has won a total of 18 titles in overall or class categories worldwide this season. In the Super Taikyu Series, another trophy went to an Audi customer team at the finale. On the Fuji circuit, Yoshinori Fujiwara/Ryosuke Kagami/Takahiro Kimura/Shozo Tagahara in the Audi RS 3 LMS of Audi Team Show Apex achieved third place in the TCR classification.
Audi R8 LMS GT4
Podium in French club racing: Audi customer team Loca Racing achieved a podium result at the finale of the Trophée Tourisme Endurance. Guillaume Charentier/Anthony Plessis achieved second place in the T5 class in Le Mans after almost six hours of racing in the Audi R8 LMS GT4.
